We want to say a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Crystal Desiderio, Gabriella Heer, Leandro Zarate, and Eden Boyette.
Each year, the Elks host an Americanism Essay Contest for 5th-8th graders. Students all across Garland County submit essays to the Americanism Essay Contest. The theme for this year’s contest was “What Does Service to My Country Mean to Me.” This year, St. John’s Catholic School had four students who won the contest! Three of our students placed as all three of the winners in the 6th grade division!
On Friday, March 6th, Kacky Carey (Chairman Americanism Committee, Lodge 380), along with committee members Andrea Matlawski and Chriss Hammerschmidt, presented awards to our four winners. The winning essays have been entered into a competition with winners from all around the state of Arkansas for honors at state level. The next round of winners will be announced later this spring.
🥇Crystal Desiderio won 1st place in the 6th grade division.
🥈Gabriella Heer won 2nd place in the 6th grade division.
🥉Leandro Zarate won 3rd place in the 6th grade division.
🥈Eden Boyette won 2nd place in the 8th grade division.
We want to say a huge congratulations Eden Boyette, Leandro Zarate, Gabriella Heer, and Crystal Desiderio! We are so proud of each of you!
